This artwork was born from my love for art, especially music and illustration. Music and illustration have always been my best friends. Music is the only form of art that I know that can blend perfectly with almost all other art forms, like movies, performing arts, street art, illustration, and so on.
It's one of the best ways to express our inner thoughts and share them with the world.
Illustration has a power that I can only compare to music. Both are responsible for changing the way we think about the world and ourselves. We can pinpoint moments in human history based on the music that was playing in that era and the forms of illustration expressions present at that particular time.
Inspired by the history of Lollapalooza and how this festival changed the way we consume music and art in general, I had the idea of combining this energy with the power of one of the most famous paintings in the world: the Mona Lisa. With the idea of "Monnapalooza" in mind, I decided to make a more modern, psychedelic reimagining of this classic painting, and the result is a very colorful artwork with elements that we can recognize from our era.
Monnapalooza is a celebration of art and life, a reminder that the world we live in is awesome and full of potential to create and recreate our history as human beings.
